There’s a new face coming to 1500 ESPN.
“The Superstar” Mike Morris will be joining 1500 ESPN to cover Minnesota Vikings football this fall. He’ll add another unique dynamic to our coverage, and we’re excited to have him at 1500 ESPN.
“The Superstar Mike Morris is one of the best-known and entertaining former Vikings in Minnesota,” said Dan Seeman, vice president and market manager of Hubbard Radio. “He has built a great brand for himself and we couldn’t be happier to share his insight, analysis and entertaining style with 1500 ESPN listeners.”
Morris will join Mackey and Judd on Mondays and Fridays from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. He will host Vikings Ventline following each Minnesota Vikings Game. And he will also host a weekly one-hour podcast for the 1500 ESPN Podcast Center.
“I want to thank Dan Seeman, I want to thank Brad Lane, and the Hubbards, I really do, for giving me a chance. And letting me do just Vikings football is just perfect,” Morris said.
“I think it’s a great fit for me,” Morris added. “I can’t get enough football. I’ve loved football for so long and so much that I can’t go without it. I’ve been in it for so long that it’s truly been my entire life.”
Morris played in the NFL for 13 years, including his time with the Vikings from 1991-98. After his NFL career wrapped up, Morris served as the long-time host of Vikings Fanline on KFAN and the Minnesota Vikings Radio Network and hosted the The Power Trip morning show on KFAN. Most recently Mike hosted an afternoon drive sports talk show on The Ticket 105.
He said he intends to have a lot of fun with his yet unnamed podcast that he said he wants to “ooze NFL.” Whether that involves stories from his playing days or interviews with former teammates, he said he’s excited about the direction.
“Being a former player, Mike will have unique insights and perspective on the Vikings he can contribute with Mackey & Judd,” said 1500 ESPN Program Director Brad Lane. “His remarkable storytelling ability will be on full display via the new podcast, where he can be more off-the-cuff. But perhaps his greatest impact will be on Ventline, where he’ll be able to immediately engage with fans on the Purple’s performance…in the same manner he did for so many years across town.”
