Sometimes there is no wrong answer. SportsRadio 94WIP’s midday hosts Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie may have proved it Monday, when one wanted to fault quarterback Carson Wentz for the Eagles listless offense and the other blamed head coach Doug Pederson.
Even as a leading MVP candidate in 2017, it wouldn’t have been crazy to predict Philly would be ready to give up on Wentz just three years later. But what would have seemed crazy was the fact that Philly might not be overreacting in their desire to give up on what used to be one of the league’s most promising young players.
It’s not an overreaction to claim Wentz stinks right now, because he does and DeCamara made that clear Monday. DeCamara’s rant came a day after the Eagles beat the rival Cowboys and a day after they built on their first-place lead in the abysmal NFC East. But tired of hearing Ritchie point the blame at the head coach, DeCamara unleashed on Wentz, claiming he’s not long for the starting quarterback job in Philly.
“Jon, he stinks!” DeCamara exclaimed to Ritchie. “Everyone listen to me. Carson stinks! Everybody listen to me. Carson Wentz is horrible. He is a terrible starting quarterback in the NFL. I cannot take this anymore. The guy stinks! Alright, he’s horrible!”
“I told you after the second game this year that Carson was not going to be the quarterback in 2022,” DeCamara added. “And a lot of people thought I was crazy and that’s fine, you can have whatever opinion you want. Carson is not going to be the quarterback in 2022, he might not even be the quarterback in Week 16 this year if they actually have a shot, which they’re going to. This is insane, how bad he’s been. It is insane.”
Ritchie didn’t disagree that Wentz stinks right now, but he also doesn’t want to excuse the head coach of any blame.
“It’s insane that you somehow have blinders on that absolve Doug of any culpability here,” Ritchie said.
This rant should live in infamy on WIP, with DeCamara’s “Carson stinks” proving worthy of long-lasting drops.
