The NFL as a whole has been up in viewership in a big way this season. ESPN has been thriving with their Monday Night Football product, and their competitors have as well, as Fox Sports hit a season high in viewership Sunday afternoon.

Fox announced that America’s Game Of The Week between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Green Bay Packers had 24.4 million viewers, the most for a Sunday afternoon telecast all season long. It was also the most-watched game this week on any network, up 7% on last year’s comparable window of 22.8 million viewers.

This adds to an already great year that the NFL is seeing on Fox, as games are averaging 15.2 million viewers for the regional window. This is up a whopping 48% over last year’s number that sat at 10.3 million viewers.

Fox is also showing an increase for their doubleheader average viewers, with 19.5 viewers on average. That is higher than last year’s week 9 single header by 21% and up 18% over last year’s doubleheader average.

It seems that there was still enough star power without the presence of Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers to attract fans. In a game not all that interesting from a scoring perspective this past weekend, it is impressive to get this many viewers without Rodgers on the field.
