Pat McAfee: Bobby Carpenter ‘is 1 of 1’

“Imagine if we didn’t have that in our life.”

While scrolling through his Twitter feed on Thursday, Pat McAfee caught a glimpse of a commercial featuring Columbus radio host Bobby Carpenter. The commercial was something McAfee and his crew could not wait to share with the audience.

McAfee mentioned almost in passing to co-host AJ Hawk that he had seen that the 97.1 The Fan host had signed an endorsement deal with Garage Beer.

Hawk said the commercial was pretty sweet, and so naturally the spot was played on the show.

“I’m so happy that I just glimpsed at that at some point during my scrolls earlier,” McAfee said laughing. “Imagine if we didn’t have that in our life.”

Pat McAfee enjoyed just how natural Carpenter was and showcased the beer in a way that only he could.

“That guy, he’s 1 of 1, huh?” he said.

Some of Carpenter’s lines had Pat wondering if the commercial was actually scripted or whether the company thought it would’ve just been more fun to let Bobby be himself.

“He’s either really acting, or he’s practicing his lines and they just took the practice,” McAfee said.

Colin Cowherd: Listeners See Jason McIntyre As My Little Brother

“I have to be careful because I am older than J-Mac, he is not aware of a lot of what happened in the 70s unless it was Northeast.”

It’s still early in Jason McIntyre’s run on The Herd with Colin Cowherd. Cowherd explained how he and the audience see the partnership thus far.

“When I do this show, one of the things that cracks me up, because J-Mac has only been on the show through the football season – about six months or so,” Cowherd said Thursday. “Everybody goes, ‘Oh he’s like your little brother who holds you accountable.’ And I kind of like that.”

Colin went on to add that he tries to make sure he doesn’t date himself too badly when throwing various references out there.

“I have to be careful because I am older than J-Mac, he is not aware of a lot of what happened in the 70s unless it was Northeast,” he said.

Denver Nuggets legend Alex English was the next guest on the show, and Cowherd asked if McIntyre had ever seen any of English’s highlights. English played in Denver from 1980-90.

“I’m older than you think and yes, I can name just about any NBA player from 1985, 1986,” McIntyre responded.

Pickleball is having a moment in the US. It is a moment that The Junkies want to be a part of in the nation’s capitol.

The 106.7 The Fan morning show announced on Thursday that they are ready to host their first ever pickleball event in the coming weeks. The 2023 Junkies Pickleball Challenge will happen in Falls Church, VA on June 10.

The official slogan of the competition is “dink it against the donks and win some prizes.”

JP Flaim admitted that when Cakes Auville first got into pickleball, the entire show made fun of him. Then Eric Bickel started playing. Now, it is impossible to escape pickleball with public tennis and basketball courts around the DC area being converted.

“Pickelball is mushrooming in popularity,” Cakes responded.

Challengers can enter the competition for $75. There will be pool play prior to a playoff to determine an overall champion. The Junkies will also host a show live from the event that morning.
