Cumulus Media and The Daily Wire are expanding their partnership as the company will add digital content from the news media outlet to the broadcaster’s websites.
The syndication deal will see Cumulus include Daily Wire breaking news, original reporting, sports, and entertainment coverage to more than 50 station websites, with objectives to grow in the coming weeks.
“This new deal expands our partnership with Daily Wire to include yet another Cumulus distribution platform,” Suzanne Grimes, Executive VP of Corporate Marketing, Cumulus Media, and President, Westwood One, said.
“Our listeners now have a new way to engage with high-quality content from The Daily Wire, in real-time, on our Cumulus local stations’ websites.”
The two companies have been business associates since 2018 when Westwood One started syndicating a one-hour weekday radio show from The Daily Wire founder Ben Shapiro as part of a podcast-to-broadcast movement.
What began as an hourlong show in seven markets has since extended to a two-hour show (3-5 pm) on more than 150 stations, including eight of the top 10 markets. In addition, in January 2021, Westwood One picked up other content from the Daily Wire, adding “The Michael Knowles Show” in its 5-6 pm slot.
“We’re excited to bring our breaking news coverage and original reporting to millions of new readers through our partnership with Cumulus Media,” Daily Wire co-founder and co-CEO Jeremy Boreing said.
“The syndication of our content will ease the strain on local newsrooms and enable even more Americans to access our news, commentary, and content offerings through a seamless user experience.”
