MSG Networks has parted ways with Brendan Brown. The analyst on Knicks’ radio broadcasts was let go after allegations of verbal harassment. Details of those accusations are not available, but Andrew Marchand of The New York Post reports they were investigated by the team’s human resources department.

Brown has been absent from Knicks broadcasts recently. The team has turned to Alan Hahn, Monica McNutt, Wally Sczerbiak and John Wallace in his absence.

“MSG Networks and Brendan Brown have decided to part company,” an MSG Networks spokesman said in a statement. “For the remainder of the season, various personalities, including former Knick John Wallace, will serve as the Knicks radio analyst on the MSG Radio Network on ESPN.”

The rotation of analysts is only scheduled to go on through the end of the season. The permanent future of the spot alongside play-by-play man Ed Cohen will be determined at a later date.

The Knicks have employed Brown since 2008. He has served in a variety of roles. He was an advanced scout prior to moving into the radio booth full-time in 2012.

Marchand reached out to Brendan Brown, who declined to comment on the accusations.

FS1 host Shannon Sharpe’s incident last week at the Lakers/Grizzlies game made plenty of noise in the media over the weekend.

Sharpe apologized for how he acted on Monday’s edition of Undisputed.

On Monday’s Travis & Sliwa on ESPN LA, host Allen Sliwa, Mason & Ireland host Steve Mason and executive producer Greg Bergman reacted to Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks, who was chirped by Sharpe initially and said after the game he wondered why Sharpe wasn’t removed from the arena. Brooks also hinted that because celebrities are known to frequent those courtside seats in L.A., Sharpe got special treatment.

Mason said Sharpe absolutely got treated differently than any other fan who would try to cause a distraction or an altercation with a player.

“The difference is Shannon Sharpe is Shannon Sharpe,” Mason said. “It’s a town of stars, Shannon Sharpe is a well-known guy. First of all if that’s regular Joe fan guy involved in this, eject, right?”

As for it being an L.A. thing, Mason said he understood what Brooks meant. But he still felt like Sharpe should’ve been thrown out.

“We do sort of enjoy our stars, and we love to see them courtside, and we love their personalities,” he said. “I would eject the guy. I would’ve absolutely kicked him out of the arena.”

Bergman said Sharpe’s star factor (three-time Super Bowl champion and a hall of famer) played a role in how the whole thing was handled. But Sliwa noted that there wasn’t a playful element to the bantering.

“It wasn’t one of those situations where Shannon Sharpe is jawing at Dillon Brooks or Ja Morant, and they’re kind of going back and forth,” Sliwa said. “Shannon Sharpe was basically telling these guys ‘You want some of this, you come right here in front of me.'”

Mason said it was clear Sharpe was the instigator and star power shouldn’t have mattered. Security should’ve treated him like any other fan in these situations.

“One’s a fan and the other one is a player. There’s a difference,” Mason said. “I mean granted three-time Super Bowl champion and all that stuff, but right now just a civilian – with a fancy sweater.”

ESPN Houston assistant program director Brendan Riley announced Monday that he’s now the new assistant director of content at ESPN 1000 in Chicago. Riley had been at ESPN 97.5 since 2019.

Additionally, Riley will also be the executive producer of the White Sox Radio Network.

Brendan Riley had been producing for The Killer B’s with Joel Blank and Jeremy Branham in Houston as well.

Branham offered his well wishes and appreciation to Riley for the work he put in.
